Magpie Cottage has been set up specifically with motorcyclists in mind by host Martin who has been providing comfortable and quality accommodation in his 2 bedroom suite with queen beds and a private bathroom at an affordable rate and a free continental breakfast for riders for several years. What more do you need when riding?
Located in Taumarunui, Magpie Cottage is the ideal place to base yourselves for a few days to enjoy the incredible off-road and on road riding this area offers.
This 2 bedroom guest suite is set up for a solo rider, 2 riders or 2 couples. Each room has comfortable Queen-size beds, with one room opening out to the covered deck and garden through the lovely French doors. A private modern bathroom with bath, shower and of course complimentariey toiletries are provided. You can stay connected (or check out your riding tracks) with the complimentary high speed internet and take the opportunity to catch up on some laundry. Martin sets the day off for you with a complimentary continental breakfast!!
Rates: $135 for 2 guests (either in one Queen bed or one guest in each of the beds) and $45 per extra person per night

MEET YOUR HOST
Martin Fuller
Martin has had a long history around motorcycles and in fact anything on wheels and endurance activities including taking up running at 37 after his first of many heart surgeries. He has deep roots in Taumarunui going back some 56 years ago when he met his amazing wife Sandra, a Taumarunui local. After moving further north for many years, Sandra and Martin returned home in 2008 where they committed themselves to serving the community of Taumarunui.
If you ask Martin how many motorcycles he has had, he will probably just say “a few” and at the young age of 80 he is currently pondering what his next motorcycle will be. Since his wife’s passing some 2 years ago, he has further developed their beautiful home into Magpie Cottage and now thoroughly enjoys his role as “motorcycle friendly host” and meeting the many guests passing through Taumarunui which includes sharing his local knowledge of sealed and unsealed roads.
Anyone who has ridden around this region will know that you need to stay for at least 2 days and Martin can give you advise on the many extra activities you can do during your stay.

Guest Review: “After visiting the Waitomo Caves and on our way to Tongariri Park, we stopped at Martin’s place. It was a wonderful stay. The room and the whole house were very nice. The bathroom is new and very well maintained. On the terrace, we enjoyed the peace and quiet and the birdsong while sipping a glass of wine. The next day we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast on the terrace. Great stay, absolute recommendation. Thank you Martin for the wonderful stay.
