The Alpine View Motel is the perfect motorcycle friendly accommodation choice for those looking for comfort and affordability in scenic Te Anau, where there is even a special place designated for motorcyclists to leave their bikes overnight and undercover.

Alpine View Motel was one of the first motels built in Te Anau approximately 50 years ago. It features accommodation with mountain views.

The motel features updated appliances in all units, including a fridge/freezer, microwave and oven with hotplates with supermarkets nearby so if you don’t want to eat out you are able to prepare your own meals right in your apartment.

Located just 100 metres from Lake Te Anau, Alpine View Motel features beautiful garden and mountain views. There is a children’s playground if you are travelling with your family and BBQ facilities on site.

Base yourself here at Te Anau for at least two days to enjoy everything that this part of Southland has to offer motorcyclists; including taking a day off the bike and book a trip on the Milford and Doubtful Sounds with the departure point only a 5 minutes’ walk from the motel.

Alpine View Motel offers a range of room types whether you are riding solo or in groups.

Libby & Andrew

Libby and Andrew moved from the North Island in 2025 to Te Anau where they have taken on this new venture in their lives. Being both motorcyclists, they have a real appreciation for what motorcyclists are needing when seeking safe accommodation for their motorcycles at an affordable price and the Alpine View Motel offers just that.

Bikes can park undercover in front of their own garage at night or right out in front of your room and the motel also has security cameras so that you can totally enjoy your stay here. Being new to Southland they also enjoy exploring this magnificent region of New Zealand and are always willing to share their favourite loop rides, so that you can base yourself here for a few days.

One of their most favourite rides is from Cromwell to Te Anau where your ride follows the shores of Lake Wakatipu from Central Otago and into Southland. Simply stunning.
