Aroha and Rob

Aroha (in the middle of the photograph) will greet you with a welcoming smile as soon as you walk in the door of The Empire Cafe and you will instantly feel her warm hospitality.

When MCAANZ founder Carolyn Rood (left) visited Kumara, with a bunch of motorcyclists, her and husband and co-founder Kel Rood were blown away with this wonderful cafe and then to find it had accommodation tucked around the back was amazing.

After they explained to Aroha who they were and what they were involved in, the owner Rob didn’t take much convincing to join the motorcycle friendly community of hosts and cafes.

Each studio has been thoughtfully designed to provide a peaceful and convenient stay, whether you're travelling for a weekend getaway, exploring the West Coast, or simply passing through.
